Phases of Recovery

HOPE House operates on phases of recovery, from entry into the program and the beginning of a recovery journey to sustained long term recovery and independent sober living outside of the HOPE House. Our phase model is based on incentives for progression through recovery related tasks and personal progress. Each phase brings new privileges as a personalized recovery journey and goals are developed. There are multiple pathways to recovery, and the successful recovery path is often unique to each individual.  HOPE House offers  access to traditional 12 step programs, group and one on one peer counselling, SMART recovery and a weekly community faith based program.  In conjunction with HOPE House staff, each client can help to design a recovery program that will be best suited to their individual needs, incorporating several or all of these options.

Orientation / Probationary:

1. Orientation is designed to help new residents in Phase 1 to become involved with the house, get to know other residents, and learn to put personal recovery and protecting the safe and sober environment of the community as their top priorities.

2. All new residents will begin on Orientation phase. During this time, which typically lasts for the first 30 days, residents are not able to visit family or friends outside of the house or have any overnight or weekend pass privileges.

3. Residents may go to work or seek employment during the Orientation restriction period but need to return to the house immediately following employment interview or their work shift. When on Orientation or Probation, the resident must inform the Program Manager about where they are going and when they will be returning and sign in and out of the house with a staff member

4. Residents must complete required opioid training, entry drug screening, orientation paperwork, (including personal possessions list, inventory and securing all medications for directly observed therapy, an initial RecCAP (Recovery Capital)  assessment and goal mapping.  Residents must also work with the Program Manager to establish a savings account and debit card with CornerStone Ban and work with the Program Manager to establish direct deposit of any income into this account.  At no time will residents on orientation/probation have access to cash, but they can access funds for purchases through their debit card.

5. Orientation/Probationary residents will meet weekly with a Peer Recovery Support Specialist and/or the Program Manager to review their personalized Goal Mapping in the RecCAP system and to ensure positive progress with progression to Phase One.

6.  Begin attendance at nightly recovery meetings

7.  Meet with Program Manager at the end of the first 30 days to discuss progress and to discuss progression to Phase One

PHASE ONE:

1.This phase typically spans the 30-60 day time period in the HOPE House

2. Residents should be employed and continuing full time employment.

3. Residents will continue nightly group meetings and weekly meetings with Peer Recovery Specialist to discuss goals and progress and continue to monitor progress in RecCAP system.

4.  Residents may request a pass to spend up to 4 hours outside of the house with friends or family on a Saturday or Sunday when no meetings or group activities are scheduled.  Resident will be drug tested on return to the residence.
