    Services Specialist

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Greets those who have appointments and those who walk-in to the Peer Center, as well as answers the main phone line.  

    • Processes inquiries about Rockbridge Recovery and Hope House services over the phone, via email, and in-person.

    • Refers individuals to our services or other community services and/or connects individuals with available resources.

    • Assists individuals with signing up for social safety net programs, such as Medicaid and SNAP.

    • Provides prevention supplies to clients.

    • General clerical duties as assigned, including but not limited to drafting documents and data entry.

    • Provides occasional coverage for transportation services as needed and completes company vehicle use logs to document transports.

    • Represents the organization at community events to publicize Rockbridge Recovery programming. Most community events of this nature occur in the summer and fall.

    • Assists with keeping the Peer Center clean and tidy.

    • If a Peer Support Specialist (PRS) or Family Support Specialist (FSS), duties can include conducting one-on-one peer sessions and support group facilitation. 

    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent 

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office

    • Personal lived experience with substance use disorder or have a loved one with such history, preferred

    • Must have a minimum of one year of continuous recovery, if applicable

    • Must have a valid Virginia Driver’s License, with a good driving record with no less than a 3-point score

    • Must be able to pass all drug screenings, however a medical exception for a medical card or medication prescribed and supervised by a doctor will be made and has to be on file within 30 days of employment or medication prescription given

     

    Certifications

    • Must obtain CPR and AED certification within 90 days of employment or show a current certificate from the Red Cross (certification can be obtained on the job)

    • Must complete one-hour REVIVE! training within 90 days of employment or show a REVIVE! certificate dated within the last two years (certification can be obtained on the job)

    • Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) or Certified Family Support Specialists (CFSS) is a plus, but not required

    Hours and Location

    • Approximately 24 hours per week 

    • This position is based at Rockbridge Recovery’s Peer Center located at 1809 Magnolia Ave., Suite C, Buena Vista, VA
